03/08/10   LIGHTBODY STRUCTURES LTD BUILD NEW LIGHTWEIGHT BODIES WITH OMNIA PANEL

In response to customer demand for lighter bodies, Nottinghamshire based manufacturers, LightBody Structures Ltd, turned to long-standing panel supplier, Omnia CS Ltd to equip them with their flagship durable, recyclable and lightweight Omnia panel.

The result of which were two vehicles wielding merit such as ‘Number 1 plastic bodied refuse collection vehicle in the UK’ and ‘Number 1 plastic bodied machinery carrier in the UK’.

LightRefuse01 is a covered tipper, manufactured using the Omnia plastic welded system, making the truck body lightweight, easy to use, recyclable and quiet on the road. Other advantages include, the vehicle body being rust-free, leak-proof and able to let light through making it a convincing contender on the covered tipper market.

LightMachinery01 is a drop-side beavertail vehicle designed to carry lawnmowers and other light plant machinery. The vehicle is also manufactured using Omnia’s unique plastic welded system and bears the same advantageous material properties as the noteworthy LightRefuse01 covered tipper.

Thanks to the remarkable properties of the Omnia panel, LightBody Structures Ltd affirms they will remove and recycle the LightBody body from any vehicle returned to them at the end of its serviceable life. In an ever-increasingly eco-driven society, LightBody Structures are proud to proclaim themselves market leaders in the innovative use of polypropylene panels; panels which can be welded not only to themselves but also to solid polypropylene panels. With the help of Omnia CS, their experience in the use of this technology is proving that customers can benefit hugely from their new, recyclable, durable and lightweight designs.

11/05/10   OMNIA (CS) Ltd LAUNCH EXCITING NEW ‘OMNICOVERS’ WEBSITE

Omnia CS has taken strides to develop an exciting new application for the specialist lightweight Omnia panel. Following a number of queries into solutions for covering outdoor structures, Omnia CS are introducing ‘Omnicovers’, panels purposely designed to counter the failings of commonly used materials such as wood, concrete and tarpaulin where covers are concerned.
Initially created with a view to replace wooden or tarpaulin sandpit covers, Omnicovers have a variety of potential uses, varying from paddling pools and sandpit covers to manhole, trench and duct covers. The panel’s mechanical properties are such that they provide a durable, lightweight and low maintenance alternative to heavier, more unsightly covers currently on the market that are prone to rot if not maintained correctly.
Please visit the all new Omnicovers website for more information on product design, potential applications and the panel’s unique properties.

08/02/10   OMNIA (CS) Ltd AFFILIATES WITH WORLD SOCIETY OF SUSTAINABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES

Omnia has become an Industrial Member of The World Society of Sustainable Energy Technologies (WSSET), a non-profit organisation run by businesses, academics, students and individuals who together advocate environmental preservation.

At first glance a coalition between a bodywork component supplier in the transport sector and an association devoted to sustainable energy may seem a little fractious. Omnia CS however, have devoted engineering ingenuity to innovate products that are designed to reduce carbon footprints across the transport market. As a company we aim to identify markets that will benefit from the development and supply of innovative, sustainable materials. Our focus is on fibre reinforced thermoplastic panel technology and our unique and recyclable sandwich panels offer excellent strength to weight characteristics as well as durability, innovation and sustainability.

Our capability encompasses the entire supply chain from research through development. In most cases these product solutions improve on or overcome heavier duty solutions where existing materials such as steel, aluminium, fibreglass and plywood are used. Our latest development in bodybuilding technology is developed to reduce components, reduce labour, reduce set-up cost and reduce weight to an absolute minimum.

Omnia CS salutes the important role WSSET has played in promoting sustainable energy and developing partnerships between academics and industry worldwide.

For example, as well as enabling safer operation, Cartwright's prototype trailer for the Royal Mail (MT7 May) can carry 92 of the company's York cages - 20 more than on the current stepframe trailers. Royal Mail assumes each of its York cages is at maximum weight, so the trailers always bulk out rather than cube out. The safety trailer uses polycarbonate* Omnia panels, giving a two-tonne weight saving over the old design. This is critical to utilise the extra cubic capacity available with the switch to a straight-frame trailer, and the increase in height to 4.9m.
